Upgrading of aging infrastructure

Funding the replacement and upgrading of our aging infrastructure will depend on public policies that help grow and support our business community, which in turn will increase our sales tax revenue; that maintain a high level of public safety.

Save Open Space and Agricultural Resources (SOAR) versus Sustain Ventura County

I supported Sustain VC as it would have continued the protection of our current open space through 2036 (20 years instead of 34 years), and then gives us the ability to review it for current relevance. Sustain VC would have better enabled our agricultural community to grow their businesses by adding additional services which complement their crops.

Ventura County Transportation Commission’s failed half-cent transit sales tax increase, Measure AA, 2016

I did not support the new tax measure as I feel the time frame of 30 years is too long for us to commit to. I also do not agree that the dollar amount currently allotted to public transportation is in balance with the needs of the entire county. While the ideology behind the tax was good, the actual implementation of the plan proposed by the commission was wrong.
